Report – Tecmo Koei Canada to close later this month

Toronto-based studio Tecmo Koei Canada will reportedly be shut down at the end of March.

Financial Post cites a company official who states Tecmo Koei’s only North American development branch will shut down by the end of the month. California-based Tecmo Koei America currently only handles publishing and associated duties.

The studio developed titles Fatal Inertia and Warriors: Legends of Troy for PS3 and Xbox 360, and other more recent efforts on handheld and mobile devices. It was originally established as Koei Canada in 2001, and renamed after the merger with Tecmo in 2009.

Thus far, no official word on the matter has been heard from Tecmo Koei’s camp.
