Resurgent Blockbuster lands Django Unchained exclusivity

Retailer Blockbuster hopes to take another step toward recovery with an exclusive deal on Quentin Tarantino’s latest DVD and Blu-ray release.

Customers will be able to rent the physical version of the film from Monday May 13th – that’s a week before it’s available to buy on the rest of the High Street.

Of course, how large an appetite remains for renting physical copies of films remains to be seen. Are people eager enough to see Tarantino’s latest that they’ll go to the effort of visiting a store twice (one to collect, one to return) just so they can see it a week before they could stream it from their sofas?

This is the latest move in a renewed drive from the saved retailer. Last weekend saw it embark on its first major marketing campaign since falling into administration.
