Electronic Arts’ Army Of Two franchise made its triumphant return this week with a strong debut in the ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack video game charts.

After its predecessor left the press and consumers divided, The 40th Day has silenced critics with a debut at No.1 in the Xbox 360 listings. The game also took second place in the PS3’s Top 10 – outsold only by Modern Warfare 2.

Army Of Two was the only new entry to enter the All Formats Top 40, taking fourth place – the highest position achieved by a new release so far this year.

It was denied a chance at the top spot by Modern Warfare 2, Wii Fit Plus and this week’s shock No.1 game, Ubisoft’s Just Dance.
