RETAIL BIZ: New releases storm PC chart

Publishers proved there is still life in the hardcore PC gaming market this week as no less than four new releases storm the format’s Top 10.

Electronic Arts’ Battlefield: Bad Company 2 took the No.1 spot in the ELSPA GfK Chart-Track PC chart, as it did in the Xbox 360, PS3 and All Formats Chart.

Meanwhile, Square Enix’s Supreme Commander took third place – a significant improvement on its still-respectable All Formats debut at No.23. The RTS title was the only other PC release to place in the All Formats Top 40.

Finally, a duo of Ubisoft titles also sold well, with Assassin’s Creed II and Silent Hunter 5 debuting at No.5 and No.8 respectively. Interestingly, these titles also marked the launch of Ubisoft’s troubled DRM solution.
