RETAIL BIZ: Price Check

MCV’s vital weekly retail digest, RetailBiz, is available to view online and download now.

MCV visited Romford for our regular price check, where Tesco has undercut specialist retailers GAME and HMV, as well as rival supermarket Asda, on our selected titles of the week.

However, of the five titles we searched for, Tesco only stocked two: EA’s Dead Space Extraction and Capcom’s Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles – both Wii titles. The branch in question did not stock newer releases Dark Void and Darksiders.

The supermarket boasted the lowest price for each of these, with Resident Evil’s 22.87 far undercutting HMV’s 34.99, and Extraction available for 14.00 – half the price found at both specialists.

Only Gameplay managed to undercut the retailer on Resident Evil with a price point of 19.98, although failed to match Tesco’s Dead Space price, instead offering the game for 17.98.
