Riccitiello an investor in Will Wright’s new startup Syntertainment

A new tech startup from SimCity creator Will Wright has named former EA boss John Riccitiello as one of its backers.

The company, Syntertainment, will will focus on the intersection of entertainment and reality” employs a number of team members from one of Wright’s former projects, Stupid Fun Club.

VentureBeat reports that Syntertainment’s co-founder is Avi Bar-Zeev whose former companies include Google Earth predecessor Keyhole, Second Life’s Linden Labs and Microsoft.

In addition, Riccitiello will serve as a third board member.

John and I get along great,” Wright said. I have always had a good working relationship with him and a lot of fun.”

Wright has already successfully raised $5m for the company, which already employs 11 staff.
