Rising Star hires Nintendo’s Mathers

UK publisher Rising Star Games has hired two industry veterans, including Nintendo of Europe’s Martin Mathers.

Mathers joins as production co-ordinator, leaving his role as online editor at Nintendo’s European HQ in Germany.

Prior to this, he gained more than a decade of experience as a games journalist, writing for Official Nintendo Magazine, IGN, X360, gamesTM, Dreamcast Magazine and VG247.

Meanwhile, Lilly Devon joins as production co-ordinator, and will use her experience from stints at Jagex, Ninja Theory and Frontier Developments.

Lilly brings a strong mix of development and strategic knowledge to the company while Martin’s 12-year journalism career and role at Nintendo makes him well placed to liaise with developers and platform holders,” said product marketing manager Yen Hau.

They will provide Rising Star’s marketing and PR team with everything they need.

Reports that the pair will be made to wear matching lycra wrestling outfits in the RSG office continue to be, so far, unconfirmed.”
