Rocket League roadmap shows cross-platform features pushed back

In a roadmap for the game’s future posted by Scott Rudi, game director, the decision to push back RocketID is explained in a bit more detail. The feature sees the ability to join parties across platforms, and was set for release this year – until Sony softened its stance on cross-platform play.

Now, it seems, Rocket League’s dev Psyonix has decided it’s best to factor in Sony’s console to the RocketID system – in case it is able to include the PS4 in its cross-play plans.

“We’re working incredibly hard to ensure that it’s as intuitive, stable, and polished as possible, before releasing it to the world,” Rudi writes, “We know the wait has been frustrating for many of you who are eager for this feature, and we thank you for your patience as we continue to work on cross-platform support.”

There’s also news of an updated Xbox One X version of the game, which will naturally incorporate a lovely 4K resolution, HDR features, and run at 60 frames per second. The kind of update we all want, really.

Then there’s the next Rocket Pass which sees new content added for those who pick it up, including a new suite of items arriving with it – and a brand new premium licensed DLC at some point. No idea what that’ll be based on, though.

Additionally the roadmap points out that Rocket League’s full Chinese launch isn’t too far away.
