Scratchbusters enters liquidation

UK disc repair specialist Scratchbusters has gone into liquidation, MCV can confirm.

The firm’s main business was selling its repair machines to the trade, who could then restore traded in titles or even offer disc repair services to the public.

The news comes just days after the company told MCV that it was hoping to expand its operations into other sectors within the games market.

The previously played market is booming,” Scratchbusters managing director Stanley Edwards told MCV last week.

2009 was a good year. We purchased additional equipment last year, and we now operate an 18-hours a day operation – and that’s just for the disc repair side of the business.

What we have been looking to do over the last 12 months is expand into pick-and-pack operations. In terms of skimming of discs, we have more business than we can cope with. So what I am trying to do is expand Scratchbusters in other directions.”
