Sega: Online Pass is very clever

It is a very clever idea and is something we are certainly taking a look at” – those are the words of Sega West president Mike Hayes when asked by MCV what he thinks about EA’s Online Pass DLC system.

Hayes joins Ubisoft’s CFO Alain Martinez in openly expressing his interest in EA’s digital revenue model, who hinted that his company is likely to introduce a similar scheme at some point in the near future.

The momentum behind the movement is appearing increasingly unstoppable now. Publishers who have already released games with DLC codes in the box include Sony, Codemasters and Microsoft.

THQ’s UFC Undisputed 2010 will do the same, and Take Two has also expressed its interest in the model.
