Shenmue HD is being made! (by a fan, very slowly)

We just didn’t have the heart not to break it to you in the headline.

We all know there is a very vocal and very passionate fan base out there that would explode in flames were an HD remake of cult Dreamcast title Shenmue to be announced by Sega.

The problem is, said fan base probably isn’t large enough to justify the required investment in such a project. But luckily fan projects don’t need to be financially viable.

Kotaku reports that Korean fan NoconKid has begun a high definition remaster of the game, and has successfully recreated a very small section of one part of the game. He reckons the rest will take a long, long time”.
