Singstar PS4 uses your smartphone as a mic

Sony’s karaoke sensation is making its way to the PS4 later this year.

The platform holder has announced SingStar Ultimate Party will launch on both PS3 and PS4 ahead of Christmas.

And the biggest addition to the new title is the ability to use any iOS or Android device as a microphone.

With the new SingStar app, users will be able to connect their mobile device to both the PS3 and PS4 via Wi-Fi network. Meanwhile, old school crooners will still be able to use their humble microphone if they so wish.

SingStar Ultimate Party will launch as both a physical and digital release. A boxed edition will hit retail with a price tag of 24.99 and 30 tracks. Meanwhile, the digital version will be free to download and will include snippets of ten tracks.

Like previous SingStar entries, users will have access to the SingStar Store and the option to download new tracks for 1.15 each.

Sony is working to make tracks cross-buy, too. There will be no automatic transfer of tracks purchased on PS3. But the firm says as it acquires these licenses, users will be able to download them again on PS4.
