Software Sales Monitor: UK market climbs to £62.2m

The UK games marketgenerated 62.2m last week,up 13.9 per cent over theseven days prior. Unit salesalso rose 19.6 per cent from1.9m to 2.2m in the firstweek of December.

Activision’s Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 3 beatdown the competition againlast week, topping the chartsahead of FIFA 12 andAssassin’s Creed:Revelations. The CoD gamealso halted its weekly salesdecline, with two per centmore units sold.

Sales were strong forportable games last week.Nintendo had three titles inthe Top Ten including DSpuzzler Professor Layton andthe Spectre’s Call at No.7,new 3DS release Mario Kart 7 at No.8 and Super Mario3D Land at No.10.

There’s very few newgames left to come out this year, but retail can stillexpect sales to grow as wehurtle towards Christmas.
