Space Engineers sells 500k units on Steam

Independent developer Keen Software House has announced its space sandbox game Space Engineers has sold over 500k copies as an Early Access offering on Steam.

The indie game (and regular on Steam’s top ten chart) has been available since October 23rd of last year, meaning the milestone was achieved right around six months out from launch.

"We are very excited to celebrate this milestone with our fans, whose encouragement and active participation made this possible," Keen Software House founder and CEO Marek Rosa said.

"As an independent developer, finding an audience of this size, with this kind of support for our game – even while the product is still in development – is incredibly inspiring. The fans, with their limitless ideas and passion, continue to push us to improve, add features, and develop innovations that our community deserves."

Keen Software didn’t have an official release date to provide, stating only that Space Engineers would continue to be developed as an Early Access title for the foreseeable future.

The development team is currently working on optimizations for the title’s multiplayer performance, as well as implementing new features and fixes to improve the gameplay experience.
