on the Blizzard website has got the virtual tongues of internet gamers wagging ahead of the firm’s Worldwide Invitational this Saturday – with most speculators hedging bets on a Diablo-related announcement.

The image of breaking ice, which has been gradually evolving each day, contains a number of clues as to what the World of Warcraft developer has in store. All of which is being documented in worrying detail by fan site WoW Insider.

Other possibilities include a release date for WoW expansion Wrath of the Lich King, whilst an outside bet could be an online console outing for the firm. World of Warcraft on Xbox 360 and PS3, perhaps?
