Square Enix and Dontnod announce episodic title Life Is Strange

As teased in June, publisher Square Enix and developer Dontnod have a new title in production – Life Is Strange.

The pair last combined for stylish third person sci-fi outing Remember Me, which was released last year to a mixed critical reception.

Life Is Strange is described as a digital, episodic, narrative-driven adventure, the game is in development for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. It promises a hand-drawn art style, with players making decisions that shape the narrative. A time-rewinding mechanic is central to the gameplay.

When we first saw Life Is Strange we immediately realised that Dontnod have created a unique experience, something special,” Square Enix’s VP of brand and European marketing Jon Brooke said.

Everyone who’s seen the game has instantly fallen in love with its distinctive style and mood”.

Dontnod creative director Jean-Max Moris added: Everybody at Dontnod is excited to be working on such a refreshing title. We’re not only crafting the best game we possibly can, we also feel we’re providing the type of experience that perfectly fits today’s renewed taste for originality and diversity.”
