Standalone prequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order announced for PS4 and Xbox One

A standalone prequel to last year’s entry in the Wolfenstein series is due for digital and retail release in May.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will launch on May 5th for PS4, Xbox One and PC, priced at 14.99.

The PS4 and PC will see both retail and digital editions, while Xbox One players will only have the option of digital.

Unlike The New Order, The Old Blood will not come to the last generation of consoles.

The Old Blood is split into two halves, entitled ‘Rudi Jger and the Den of Wolves’ and ‘The Dark Secrets of Helga VonSchabbs’, respectively.

Taking place in 1946, the title will once again follow recurring series protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz as he continues to indulge in gunning down hordes of Nazi soldiers, and will lead into the events of Wolfenstein: The New Order, which was released last May.

By the looks of The Old Blood’s announcement poster, it will also share The New Order’s pulp-inspired tone.

New environments, enemies and weapons will be featured – take a look at more of the game’s features in the announcement trailer below.
