Star Wars invades Disney Stores

Disney has begun offering assorted Star Wars products in its High Street Disney Stores.

The animation giant acquired LucasFilm and the Star Wars IP in October of 2012 – killing off LucasArts in the process – and will continue to ramp up activity ahead of the December 2015 release of Star Wars: Episode VII.

Now Disney Stores have begun selling a range of items including action figures, luggage, costumes, stationary and plush toys.

Some of these are new, too, such as the Saga Legends action figure selection (Mace Windu, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Shock Trooper, Super Battle Droid and R4-P17), a Darth Vader voice changer helmet, extending lightsaber, Chewbacca plush and Storm Trooper t-shirts.

There are also four exclusive 20 15-inch talking figures – Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Stormtroopers.

It’s fantastic to launch Disney Store’s first ever range of Star Wars products,” Disney UK’s VP and GM of retail Mike Stagg said. Disney Store has fully embraced the Force of the fans’ excitement and passion.”

EA signed an exclusive deal to make Star Wars games last year although it subsequently said that it is not planning on making an Episode VII title.
