Star Wars: Old Republic getting 1m log-ins a day

EA has announced that it has sold 2m copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic since its release in December, attracting 1.7m active subscribers in the process.

Unique daily log-ins for the game stand at around 1m per day with an average playtime of approximately four hours per day. EA also highlighted the fact that outside of scheduled maintenance times its servers for the game have remained operational for 99.5 per cent of the time – that’s quite an achievement for a popular MMO.

BioWare Austin has delivered a game that millions of people are going to be playing for a very long time,” EA labels president Frank Gibeau told investors.

We nailed the launch. Adoption and daily usage among core MMO users are trending very favourably. More people are buying the game and subscribing. More content is on the way. Going forward, we have an ambitious plan to reach the broader market, the millions of Star Wars fans all over the world. You’ll be seeing that very soon.

Gibeau also discussed the ways in which EA hopes to continue growing the game’s userbase.

In the next phase, our goal is to grow the number of subscribers with frequent releases of content that make the game even more exciting,” he added.

With this in mind, BioWare has just released an extensive game update that provided additional higher-level group missions and new game features to keep players engaged. We plan on delivering another major update even larger than the first in March.
