After a few weeks in beta test mode, Steam Remote Play Together has rolled out for all Steam users.
The feature enables players to “instantly share” their Steam local multiplayer games with friends over the internet, for free, and play together across iOS and Android devices as well as Windows, Mac, and Linux. This means only the host needs to own and install the game; buddies can join in and connect through Steam Remote Play streaming technology.
“Using Remote Play Together, one player owns and runs the game, then up to four players — or even more with fast connections — can quickly join in the fun,” Steam explains. “Using Remote Play Together, you’ll stream video, audio, and voice between players while using your own controllers. You can even share the keyboard and mouse. And while you’re playing, all your voice chat and game volume options are available in one place.
“To keep things simple, only the game is displayed to your Friends, never your desktop or other Top Secret stuff. You can share — or limit access to — the keyboard and mouse. It’s your choice.”
To celebrate, Steam is also hosting a Remote Play Together Sale & Streaming Event. Live now, the sale features “streamers from around the world sharing games using Remote Play Together”. It is also offering a sale on “hundreds of games” that leverage the new feature from now until November 25th.

In other Steam news, EA recently announced that EA Access is coming to Steam, making it the first gaming subscription service to be available on the platform. Additionally, EA will begin selling its games on Steam again, after it moved its titles off the marketplace and hosted them exclusively on the Origin store in 2011.
The move is a result of a partnership between EA and Valve, and will began with the launch of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on November 15th. In the following months, titles such as The Sims 4 and Unravel Two will also be available on the service. Multiplayer titles such as Apex Legends, FIFA 20 and Battlefield V will be available next year, and will include cross-play – allowing players on both Origin and Steam to play together.
