Strong week for Xbox 360

2010 FIFA World Cup may have held on to the top spot in the ELSPA GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40 this week, but Microsoft’s Alan Wake took it awfully close.

Sales numbers show that Remedy Entertainment’s narrative horror outing was just 1,000 sales away from claiming no.1 in its first week of release. It did top the single format Xbox 360 chart, however.

There was more good news for Microsoft elsewhere in the listings, too. Alan Wake managed to fend off the advances of Capcom’s chart rival Lost Planet 2, despite the fact the sci-fi shooter was released on multiple formats and three days earlier.

Speaking of Lost Planet 2 – Xbox 360 managed to claims 66 per cent of the game’s overall sales, leaving the rest for PS3. It was much the same with EA’s Skate 3, where Xbox 360 managed a 68 per cent share of sales.
