Submissions now open for gamedev.world, a new, free, multilingual, global dev conference

Sarah Elmaleh and Rami Ismail have announced gamedev.world, a new global game developer conference running June 21st – June 23rd, 2019, and set to feature "30+ speakers from all over the planet".

"Learn from top developers around the planet in talks and interactive Q&As, meet other developers speaking your language, and gain a global perspective on the art & business of game creation," says the new website. All talks will be closed-captioned and translated into Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.

The organisers are now accepting submissions for talks between 20-30 minutes long. Speakers will be requested to do each talk three times, once in late April, once on day one, and once on day two, and all talks come with a five-ten minute Q&A session. Talks that are based on a script will be preferred and speakers are allowed to speak in the languages listed above. Almost 10,000 developers have already signed up, and the team is answering "hundreds of e-mails in all supported languages from interested speakers, venue hosts, and new sponsors".

"Please help us make gamedevworld the largest it can be, and help us break down the enormous invisible border of language," tweeted Ismail. "Everything will be free, thanks to our amazing sponsors (announcing over the next few weeks). Everything will be awesome, thanks to our amazing speakers (announcing over the next few weeks as well). If you want to help out, let us know via https://gamedev.world as well!"

Ismail recently launched a new project, Meditation, which releases new, free games every day throughout 2019. The Vlambeer co-founder curated the collection of quick games with Jupiter Hadley, Adriel Wallick, and @moshboy, with coding help from Khalil Arafan, Krzysztof ‘dalton’ Pachulski, Dominik Zgutka, and Michał Odziemczyk. Every day, a new game is released via a free downloadable launcher for PC and Mac but miss a game, and it’s gone until the same day next year. The style and tone varies; "some are very short, some are more complicated. Some meditations are light and curious. Other meditations might be sad or difficult, curious or introspective, personal or playful".
