Sumo Digital opens studio in Warrington

Sumo Digital has announced the opening of its seventh UK based studio – Sumo North West. The studio based in Warrington will be led by director, Scott Kirkland.

Overall, Sumo North West is the developer’s 8th studio across the world with studios in Sheffield, Nottingham, Newcastle, Leamington Spa, as well as The Chinese Room in Brighton and Red Kite Games in Leeds, and its Indian studio in Prune.

Sumo Digital is best known for having developed Crackdown 3, LittleBigPlanet 3, and the Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing series.

Sumo North West’s Studio Director Scott Kirkland is a BAFTA nominee (technical leadership, Motorstorm) and has a 23 year track record in innovation and leadership. Previously a co-founder of Evolution Studios and Secret Sorcery, Kirkland is a pioneer of 3D graphics programming, and most recently managed multi-project, multi-platform development for clients including major first party studios and the world’s biggest publishers.
