The battle for Mount Olympus: Armada’s hold on the throne of the five gods

These days, Adam "Armada" Lindgren is constantly locked in a non-stop, back-and-forth battle for the most important title in professional Super Smash Bros. Melee. Every tournament he attends, the pressure is on him to beat every other top player in attendance and keep his crown. Armada is the best Melee player in the world, but staying at the top in 2016 has turned into a struggle.

Last year, it didn’t look like it would too tough for Armada to keep it up. He took first place at Evolution 2015, Big House 5 and Smash Summit during an eight tournament win streak. But the streak ended at DreamHack Winter 2015, where he lost to Juan "Hungrybox" Debiedma. Hbox beat Armada again at Battle of the Five Gods, that time with a 3-0. Armada finally beat Hungrybox again at Smash Summit 2, but he says there was a lot more on the line than just that one tournament.
