The Elder Scrolls Online also uses microtransactions

More details have emerged about the business model behind Bethesa’s hotly-anticipated MMO for PC and next-gen consoles.

The publisher has already announced The Elder Scrolls Online will charge a monthly subscription fee – a decision that director Matt Firor was quick to defend.

Now fansiteESOHub.de, via AusGamers, is reporting the title will also have a microtransaction-based item store, which will allow users to purchase extra content – although the exact nature is not quite clear yet.

Firor said: "We will have a shop to buy kind of fun stuff and services too like name changes and things like that."

He added that shop items wouldn’t be "part of the core game, anything included in the core game is included in the subscription price".

The Elder Scrolls Online is due for PC, Xbox One and PS4 next year.
