The UK’s Best New Indie Retailers: Game Trade

Our Indie Retail Month in association with Gem continues to look at the UK’s top new indie retailers with Game Trade, an online indie already starting to work directly with game publisher. Co-director Nadir Husain tells MCV what’s next for Game Trade.

The sole website to make it into the top newbies section is Game Trade, a site that also operates via Amazon, eBay and Play.

We have been running for just under two years. There are two directors, Raj Patel and myself. We trade through our own website [www.gametradeonline.co.uk] and third-party marketplaces,” says co- director Nadir Husain.

We have served over 250,000 customers and the business is expanding rapidly as we grow our selection and improve our multi- channel offering. We are starting to work directly with publishers, which will help us to grow our selection further.”

The site stocks new in-demand titles and affordable back-catalogue releases and will shortly turn its attention to consoles and toys.

Despite a slowdown in the release of new titles ahead of the launch of the next generation consoles we are pleased to be growing at a strong rate and have some exciting plans in place for future development,” added Husain.

We sell Skylanders already and we are starting to look at expanding into toys, consoles, accessories and figurines.”
