THQs IceStorm ready to pick up Red Ant slack

Martin Good, the senior vice president of Australian distributor THQ Asia Pacific, has told MCV that has firm is ready to make the most of any opportunities that arise in the region as a result of the turmoil caused by the recent troubles at Red Ant.

Red Ant was placed into administration late last week, leading to concerns that key releases from its partners including Capcom, Konami, Midway and Bethesda may struggle to reach retail on their release dates.

THQ’s Asia Pacific headquarters and namely, its Australian based IceStorm Entertainment arm, are perfectly poised to manage any viable distribution opportunity,” Good told MCV. But categorically, no arrangements have been made to date.”

Good added that the danger remains that Australian games distribution could experience more troubles in the coming months: It feels that way but time will truly tell.

My advice to any distributor today is to closely watch your costs, monitor your cash flow carefully, make sure you’re buying and selling sensibly, watch your inventory and don’t be afraid to drive through your key products with an effective marketing campaign. That’s it. Not exactly an Einstein revelation really but you’d be surprised at what our market intelligence is telling us is going on out there at the moment.”
