THQ’s Rio game gets release date

Publisher THQ has announced that it will release its licensed kids title Rio on April 12th in the US.

That’s just three days before the release of the film at US cinemas.

A UK release date for the game has not yet been confirmed, though with the film hitting UK screens on April 8th it’s possible that THQ’s title will arrive on these shores a little earlier.

"Rio’s humor, compelling characters, thrilling story, colourful characters and wonderful music inspired us to create a unique and imaginative game experience," THQ’s executive VP of kids, family and casual games Martin Good stated.

Senior VP of new media for Fox Consumer Products Gary Rosenfel added: "Rio is one of the biggest family film events of the year and is tailor made to be enjoyed through a video game that will bring the same experience to gamers of all ages."

The DS version will doffer from the others by offering a specifically developed rhythm action game.
