Turtle Rock details Evolve’s inclusive approach to DLC

Evolve will offer all of its DLC maps for free and its premium DLC won’t directly exclude players who have only purchased the base game, developer Turtle Rock Studios has revealed.

In an interview with IGN, creative director Phil Robb revealed all maps released for the game post-launch will be free.

We can’t break the community up, so all of our maps will be free,” Robb said. We never want anyone to get booted off of a server because they haven’t bought something.

Robb also explained how players will be able to interact with any and all premium add-on content released for the game – regardless of whether or not they actually purchased the DLC.

We’ll have [add-on] characters and monsters, and even if you don’t buy them, if your buddy wants to buy the DLC, that’s cool, and your game will be enhanced through his purchase.”

You won’t be able to play as those characters, but you will certainly be able to play with those characters.”

Evolve is scheduled for an international launch February 10th on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
