UFC 2009 passes 3.5m shipped

It was one of the surprise hits of last year, and now THQ has stated that 3.5m copies of its licensed fighting simulator UFC 2009 have been shipped worldwide.

We are excited that so many fans around the world have helped us achieve these impressive milestones in our debut year,” UFC president Dana White stated.

UFC 2009 Undisputed opened the door for us to further share the UFC brand with video game and fight fans around the world, and we cannot wait to return this spring with the release of UFC Undisputed 2010 on May 25, 2010.”

Furthermore, the game has now joined Microsoft’s Platinum Hits software range and Sony’s Greatest Hits selection in North America, meaning they can now be bought new for $29.99.

Reaching ‘Platinum Hits’ and ‘Greatest Hits’ status is an honour that speaks to the strength of our software and the power of the UFC brand,” THQ’s VP of global brand management Brian Coleman added.

With a reduced price point, more players can now step into the Octagon and take part in the ultimate virtual UFC experience.”
