US employees sue GameStop

Legal action has been launched against retailer GameStop in the US concerning its use of mandatory security checks on employees.

The company routinely checks employees before any breaks or after their shifts. However, many are apparently unhappy that these checks take place outside of their contracted hours and the failure to provide uninterrupted and unrestricted breaks.

GameSpot reports that the action has been raised by a former employee on behalf of all those employed by GameStop on an hourly basis since June 21st 2010.

There are a couple of other issued raised by the lawsuit, too, including the failure to adequately compensate employees for work shifts that exceed eight hours” and not providing accurately itemized wage statements”.

The suit demands that employees are paid an hour’s wages for every day their break time was compromised.
