US: No PSPgo Rewards scheme planned

Sony is not currently planning to bring its newly announced PSPgo Rewards scheme to North America.

The service was announced yesterday for European territories, and entitles current PSP owners to three free downloadable games when they upgrade to the forthcoming PSPgo. Titles on offer include Killzone: Liberation, LocoRoco, Patapon and Echochrome.

However, a SCEA representative has revealed the company will not be bringing PSPgo Rewards to the US, instead planning to support both the new handheld and the standard PSP.

We have a dual platform strategy,” a Sony representative told IGN. PSPgo is the latest offering in our portable entertainment products targeted for the digitally savvy and early adopters who are looking for an easy way to experience entertainment and a wide variety of digital content.

We will continue to be committed to our existing PSP users by offering over 16,000 pieces of digital content including games, minis, movies, television shows and SensMe, the new music application as well as UMDs.”
