US: Tens of thousands of Wiis at Wal-Mart

American retailer Wal-Mart has confirmed that it has tens of thousands” of Wii’s in stock for sale on its website store over the Christmas period, reports

Wal-Mart is to offer the console for $249.24, along with a value bundle including extra controllers retailing for $329 while supplies last. The retailer has pointed to a strong relationship with Nintendo as the reason for its ability to secure stock.

The deals, which are only available online, are joined by a list of Wii games available at a special offer price of two for $30, and accessories at reduced costs, such as the Nintendo Wii Racing Wheel.

The Wii, which remains a sort after Christmas gift in the US, was the most searched-for item on Yahoo Shopping on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving that typically marks the start of holiday shopping in America. The same date also saw the Wii as the most popular product on eBay, selling at an average price of $349.
