US Wii sales reach 9.5m

Nintendo’s Wii was the biggest selling console in the US last month, according to NPD Data – as the format hit 9.5 million lifetime sales in the territory.

ShackNews reports the Wii ranked as the month’s top-selling hardware with 714,000 units sold.

Nintendo’s DS was the second biggest seller with 414,800, followed by PSP with 192,700.

After Microsoft announced the Xbox 360 hit 10 million sales in the US this month, the console sold 188, 000 units in April.

The full list of NPD US console sales for April reads:

1. Wii – 714,200
2. Nintendo DS – 414,800
3. PSP – 192,700
4. Xbox 360 – 188,000
5. PlayStation 3 – 187,000
6. PlayStation 2 – 124,000
