Vermintide 2 sells 500,000 copies in under a week

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has sold 500,000 units less than a week after its release for PC.

"We are proud and happy that gamers worldwide have taken Warhammer: Vermintide 2 to their hearts." said Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund in a statement. "500,000 games sold was a milestone that we had, but not less than a week after release."

Swedish independent studio Fatshark, who also self-published the game, launched it for the PC on March 8. In just four days, it quickly sold half a million copies, putting it on track to outsell its predecessor, which hit the 2m sales milestone back in December 2017, two years after after launch.

Vermintide 2 is currently only available for the PC, but will be coming to Xbox One and PS4 at an unspecified point in the future. The game has launched to critical acclaim and yesterday we wrote about the way it takes inspiration from MMO raids to keep players interested.

There’s anywhere between 25,000 and 70,000 people playing at any given moment right now, so any way you want to look at it, it seems Fatshark’s latest release has been a success.
