Video: First trailer for Assassin’s Creed film released

Ubisoft has rolled out our first glimpse of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie in motion.

The trailer (below) debuted last night on American talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live and shows us what we can expect from the forthcoming release.

The film tells the story of Michael Fassbender’s Callum Lynch who is transported to 15th Century Spain to relive the memories of his ancestor Anguilar.

The trailer also reveals a December 21st release date for the film – it’s unclear at the moment whether this is a worldwide release or just the US launch date. The UK-specific poster for the film simply says a 2016 release date.

The movie was initially set for an August 7th release, but was pushed back to 2016 in 2014.

Assassin’s Creed is one of four video game films to launch in 2016. Sony’s Ratchet & Clank is already out, with The Angry Birds Movie launching on May 13th in the UK.

Meanwhile, Warcraft is hitting the silver screen on May 30th.
