VIDEO: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor has a release date

Warner Bros has revealed the release date for upcoming Lord of the Rings title Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

The PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC title will arrive on October 7th.

The game, which has an unusually supernatural thrust for a Tolkien title, is clearly inspired by the Assassin’s Creed formula but brings plenty of new ideas to the table.

The most notable is probably the mechanic that sees enemy survivors from past encounters persist in the game world and go on to gain influence and progress through the ranks of Mordor, referencing previous battles when they are again confronted later down the line.
