Virgin Gaming details outed

An investigation into the return of Richard Branson to the world of video games has ousted business links to Toronto-based skill-gaming firm WorldGaming.com – and ignited talk of a possible acquisition.

WorldGaming is a Toronto-based company that sees PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers compete with one another online for prizes.

Tech site MaxConsole discovered that Virgin Gaming’s website is registered in the same building as WorldGaming. Taking it upon itself to give WorldGaming a call, the site was surprised to hear the receptionist announce herself as ‘Rachel of Virgin Gaming’.

The news seems to indicate that Branson’s firm has acquired the Canadian company and will use it to form the foundations of Virgin’s gaming return.

It all ties in with MCV’s reveal last month that Virgin Gaming will be online-only and challenge-based, possibly built on a technology acquisition”.
