Vita sales quadruple in Japan

Sony Japan’s president Hiroshi Kawano has revealed that sales for Playstation Vita are up 400 per cent in Japan.

During a press presentation for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 translated by Gematsu, Kawano revealed the spike in units sold – pointing to the handheld’s recent price drop in the region.

GI.biz reports that numbers prior to the February 28th show Vita sales at 11,000 units, which implies the device has sold 33,000 units in under a week.

Prior to the price drop, the week concluded on February 24th was also the first time that the Vita beat out Wii U sales in Japan.
