Wargaming acquires Day 1 Studios, lines up console invasion

World of Tanks publisher Wargaming has announced its intentions to muscle in on the console sector.

The first step in this planned invasion is the acquisition of Day 1 Studios, which is the outfit behind MechAssault, MechAssault 2, FEAR, FEAR 3 and Fracture.

The deal is worth $20m with the studio now working on an unannounced console title. It seems as if the developer will be rebranded as Wargaming Chicago.

The move into console game development is a huge step for Wargaming, as we begin to expand our presence into new platforms,” Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi stated. We are looking forward to sharing the fruits of our labour soon.”
