Windows 10 won’t be free for much longer

Microsoft has revealed how much Windows 10 will cost when its free upgrade period ends in July.

The OS will cease to be offered as a free upgrade to existing Windows users on July 29th, at which point it will be priced at $119 (around 82, although the actual UK price is TBC).

Windows 10 is now running on 300m devices worldwide.

In touting the success of the software, Microsoft has revealed that users spent over 63bn minutes using its new Edge browser in March, with quarterly usage growth at 50 per cent. Digital assistant Cortana, meanwhile, has since launch answered over 6bn questions, while over 9bn hours of gameplay have been logged on Windows 10 since it was launched.

Of course, as part of delivering Windows 10 as a service – any Windows 10 customer can enjoy these innovations – for free.”
