Wood becomes Future CEO

Mark Wood has been appointed as chief executive of Future Publishing’s UK business.

Wood joined the media firm’s Board as a non-executive director in April 2009. He will step down from this position on August 30th and take up his new responsibilities the following day.

He previously worked as chief executive for ITN from 2003 to 2009, before which he was editor-in-chief of Reuters.

I am delighted to be joining the executive team at Future,” said Wood. Under Stevie Spring, Future has become a highly innovative and dynamic business with an impressive track record in growing digital revenues alongside the production of a fantastic range of successful print titles.

I relish the opportunity to play a bigger part in the achievement of the company’s objectives in a rapidly changing media market. I’m looking forward very much to leading the UK team through the next phase of its development.”

Future’s group chief executive Stevie Spring added: I am thrilled with this new appointment to the executive team. Mark’s outstanding track record in the media bridges both the commercial and the editorial and he has a wealth of experience: in broadcast, print and online.

Content creation and curation is at the heart of Future’s business and Mark is one of the UK’s most experienced and talented leaders of content-focused companies.
