Woolworths closure delayed

Woolworths administrator Deloitte has announced that the final closure of the retailer’s remaining outlets will be delayed by one working day.

The last 200 Woolworths stores were due to be closed today, but will now open on Saturday in order to sell leftover stock. They will now close on Tuesday, January 6th.

Deloitte attributed to the delay to its need for more time to make the final arrangements”, according to the BBC.

There are two main reasons for delaying the closure,” said a Deloitte spokesman. One, stock levels – there’s still some stock remaining. Two, workload – it’s a big logistical exercise.”

Over of half of Woolworths 807 stores have been closed after the retailer entered administration in November.
