Xbox Live hits 8 million users

Having only announced that it had struck the 7 million users milestone in July, Microsoft has confirmed that its Xbox Live service has now surpassed the 8 million mark worldwide.

To celebrate the achievement, and the service’s recent fifth birthday, Microsoft is offering gamers the chance to download Xbox Live Arcade title Carcassonne free of charge for two days from the early hours of tomorrow morning.

It will also be giving 500 Microsoft points to members who have been signed up to the service since its infancy on the original Xbox.

The news follows the recent confirmation that original Xbox titles are coming to Xbox Live as part of the Autumn Update on December 4th.
