Xbox Live Silver gets new name

Microsoft has revealed a slight alteration to how it markets the two tiers of membership for Xbox Live.

Speaking via Twitter, Xbox Europe’s community manager Graeme Boyd stated:

Just been told that ‘Xbox Live Silver Membership’ will now officially be called ‘Xbox Live Free Membership’. The times they are a-changin…”

There has been no change to how access to services is split between the two. Gold membership includes additions such as online multiplayer and early access to some content.

The move comes as the platform holder reveals a new look for Xbox.com.
