Xbox One matches PS4’s 1m day one sales

Microsoft has announced that it too has conjured one million day one sales of its new console.

That means Xbox One matches PS4’s 24 hour numbers, although of course Microsoft’s machine yesterday arrived in 13 territories whereas Sony launched into just the US and Canada on its first day.

It goes without saying that the numbers represent a new Xbox record.

In the first 24 hours gamers have killed over 60m zombies in Dead Rising 3, driven over 3.6m miles in Forza 5, conjured over 7.1m combos in Killer Instinct and defeated 8.5m foes in Ryse.

Microsoft claims that Xbox One is now sold out across most of retail, adding that it is trying to get more units into the channel as quick as it can.

We are humbled and grateful for the excitement of Xbox fans around the world,” corporate VP of marketing and strategy Yusuf Mehdi stated.

Seeing thousands of excited fans lined up to get their Xbox One and their love for gaming was truly a special moment for everyone on the Xbox team. We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles and look forward to fulfilling holiday gift wishes this season.”
