Capcom confirms no local co-op for Resident Evil Revelations 2 on PC

The PC release of Resident Evil Revelations 2 does not support offline co-op play, and players aren’t happy with Capcom’s duplicity on the matter.

Unlike the PlayStation and Xbox editions of the game, Revelations 2 can only be played in single player. Capcom failed to mention this prior to the game’s launch this week, instead leaving contradicting messages on the game’s Steam page for potential customer’s to have to interpret.

Specifically, one of the game’s feature bullet-points boasts Assistive co-op play – Players will need to switch between the two characters (Claire/Moira, Barry/Natalia) to overcome the nightmares in either single player mode with an AI partner or offline co-op.”

Much further down the page however, Capcom has added the line The PC version does not support offline co-op play in the Campaign or Raid Mode,” making the aforementioned feature inaccessible.

A Capcom representative has provided VG247 with the following statement:

The PC version of Resident Evil Revelations 2 supports a variety of customizable visual settings and resolutions. The decision to prioritize a single local screen was made to ensure a stable user experience across a variety of different PC settings and devices. Raid mode will support online co-op shortly after launch when a free patch is available for players to download which adds this feature, but the main campaign on PC will only be available to play in single local screen.”

The Steam version of the game has already taken on a high volume of negative player reviews – which focus on both the lack of local co-op, as well as other issues such as frequent drops in frame rate.
