Brighton-based mobile studio receives investment from angels and industry members

$1.3m seed funding for Gunjin Games

Gunjin Games has secrued $1.3m in funding following two rounds of seed stage investment.

The second was heavily oversubscribed and extended, with investors including Smurfit Family Investments, Sir Michael Smurfit, game financier Shum Singh, AceViral.com, Flashgames247 founder Shazad Mohammed, and Clipdash founder Rick Gibson.

Founded in 2014, Gunjin Games is a studio that focuses on strategy games for smartphones and tablets. Its team include former members of the team behind Disney racer Split/Second, and Games Investor Consulting’s Nick Gibson.

The team’s first game is in development and due to be revealed later this year.

“Gunjin Games was founded to try something quite different in a mobile strategy games market in which innovation seems to have become a rarity,” said Nick Gibson. “Those in the industry that we have shared our games design and development approach with have reacted very favourably and most have commented on the uniqueness of our pitch.

“We are delighted that this interest has extended to the angel investor community and we are thrilled at the high calibre of investors who have backed us.”
