Revenue split between microtransactions, sales and advertising

100m downloads vaults Backflip to mobile cloud-9

Backflip Studios has become one of only a few companies to have surpassed 100 million downloads to mobile game devices.

The group has reached the feat in the space of two years with popular iPhone games such as Paper Toss and Ragdoll Blaster.

In December the studio had reached 60 million.

For now, only a handful of mobile games companies can claim to have surpassed 100 million downloads, the most conspicuous being Angry Birds creator Rovio.

Backflip said about 80 million of its downloads were to iOS devices, and the remainder to Android.

More diverse is the way Backflip makes its money. Backflip said roughly a third of its revenues come from app sales, another third advertising, and the remainder from microtransactions.
