'Sea Dog' team to join Russian publisher

1C buys Akella’s in-house dev team

Ambitious Russian games publisher 1C has announced plans to acquire Akella’s internal ‘Sea Dogs’ development team.

The team is one of the few certified Xbox developers in Russia and have been responsible for the likes of Sea Dogs, Pirates of the Caribbean and Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales.

The team is currently working on Age of Pirates: Captain Blood for PC and Xbox 360. The acquisition was described by 1C as ‘another step to build upon 1C’s status as a leading developer and publisher of entertainment software’

Once the team’s current project is done, 1C will set the studio the task of developing ‘a wide range of innovative titles for multiple game platforms’.
